Play for two
The real reason for developing the Twin Kalimba was the desire to have an instrument that made it possible to play together. Whether couples, friends or therapist and patient, a shared sound experience is possible. Harmonious tonal sequences and sounds are always created through the tuned reeds. The vibrations of the tones are transferred to the wood and are not only acoustically but also physically noticeable to the playing partner.
Play alone
Hold the Twin Kalimba horizontally in both hands so that each thumb plays one set of tongues. The equally tuned reed sets create a sound rich in overtones and reverberant, as each tongue played causes the same tuned tone to resonate on the opposite side. The advanced Kalimba player has a variety of options for creating scales by retuning individual tones.
